Discovering our History
The V.M. Ybor Neighborhood Association is proud to announce that we’ve received grant funding from the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners to support a new initiative: "V.M. Ybor Untold Stories."
This exciting project will take you on a journey through the neighborhood’s layered history, brought to life through a series of community walking tours and videos. Through firsthand interviews, rarely seen imagery, and personal reflections, we'll explore the vibrant experiences of V.M. Ybor residents over the past century.
Walking Tour

Saturday, July 26 | 9:00 AM | Cuscaden Pool Front Lawn
Local historian Max Herman will lead an intimate walking tour of V.M. Ybor, highlighting the history of our Ybor community. This guided tour will explore the neighborhood’s layered past, from its working-class roots to its evolving cultural identity.
The tour will depart from Cuscaden Pool and is limited to just 25 people. This event is free to attendees, courtesy of the Hillsborough County Board of County Commissioners and the Neighborhood Mini-Grant Program. Space is limited.

Film Screening & Community Conversation
Wednesday, July 30 | 6:00–9:30 PM | Centro Asturiano Theater
Join us for a special evening at the historic Centro Asturiano Theater (1913 N. Nebraska Avenue) featuring Untold Stories—a 25-minute documentary highlighting local voices and neighborhood memories—plus a bonus segment of never-before-seen interviews. A community discussion led by historian Max Herman will follow, along with a story booth for attendees to share their own V.M. Ybor reflections.
